After posting about My America the book earlier this week, Just found out today that there is an exhibition at the Host Gallery London until 15 November.
I will be checking this out on my return from the states, along with the new simon norfolk exhibition at the Michael Hoppen gallery up until 17.11.08.
Christopher Morris of VII fame has a very nice book out. More fine art photography than photojournalism.
An interesting quote……
But while his subjects have gotten quieter and more controlled, Morris has become even more dedicated to realistic representation. He has practically given up wide-angle and shot almost every photo in the book from 50mm to 70mm because it is closest to “what the eye sees.”
…especially as I am down to the nifty fifty, a 50mm lens. TImes are hard. Seems like Mr Morris is Following in the footsteps of the great man Henri Cartier Bresson who was said to use the 50mm exclusively.
Who needs all those lenses!
I love his work. I bought the War photographer documentary DVD a few years ago and track down every edition of TIME that runs his photo essays.
Here are a few of my favourites ( Can u call images of pain and suffering favourites ?). Ok scratch that, a few of what i consider to be his strongest images amongst many.
According to some, James Nachtwey is “the greatest war photographer in recent decades”.
Possibly. But He is without doubt the best dressed war photographer ever.
