Not wanting to stir things up , but with so many great photojournalists out there, why is James Nachtwey the poster boy of photojournalism and the name that first comes to mind for so many. Better PR ? The marketing power of VII? having a DVD out ? Better dress sense?

I love his work. I bought the War photographer documentary DVD a few years ago and track down every edition of TIME that runs his photo essays.

Here are a few of my favourites ( Can u call images of pain and suffering favourites ?). Ok scratch that, a few of what i consider to be his strongest images amongst many.

More of his work here

According to some, James Nachtwey is “the greatest war photographer in recent decades”.

Possibly. But He is without doubt the best dressed war photographer ever.
